General Planning Workflow in PLAIO

A step-by-step guide on how to do a simple planning session in PLAIO.

Updated over 3 months ago

This article takes you through steps needed to complete a planning session in PLAIO.

  1. Open PLAIO, at either preview or prod

  2. In the top left, navigate to Demand -> Demand Planning

  3. Make note of the available filters in the menu on the left. You'll see each SKU appear three times for each plan type attached to it. These types are:

    • Customer Orders: Received orders from customers

    • Market Forecast: The forecast from your market teams for each sku in their respective markets

    • Statistical Forecast: A sales forecast from PLAIO's Co-planner using historical sales

This guide focuses on populating and working with the Market Forecast. Populate the market forecast for a few items, the more the better.

Note: If you have historical sales for your items, you can navigate to the stars in the top right -> Coplanner Actions -> Statistical Forecast For All Visible SKUs.
Clicking on a line shows you a graph of historical sales and the future market forecast and/or statistical forecasts.

  4. Once you've populated the Market Forecast for your chosen SKUs, navigate to Manufacturing -> Supply Plan. Make note of the selected Plan Type in the filter menu in the top left corner. To generate a supply plan based on the demand defined in the Demand Planner, navigate to the cogwheel in the top right -> Coplanner Actions -> Optimize Supply For Filtered Lines

The Coplanner now takes the demand for all the SKUs in each market and aggregates it to the strengths that need to be ordered. It then generates a supply plan based on lead times, safety stock and many other constraints that can be defined.

This worksheet shows you an overview of the strengths that need to be ordered to fulfill the demand populated in the Demand Planner. If you click a line for a strength, the graph at the bottom shows you projected order suggestions, incoming orders, demand and stock for that strength.

These values can be manually edited if needed. Review the output of the Supply Planner and compare with the demand values.
